WordPress started in 2003 with a single bit of code to enhance the typography of everyday writing and with fewer users than you can count on your fingers and toes. Since then it has grown to be the largest self-hosted blogging tool in the world, used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day.

Basically, everyone and their dog blogs. WordPress is a great tool for that. It comes with all sorts of free themes to download (and also makes it easy for developers and designers to design these themes) and is incredibly easy to use.

  • PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor

  • Server-side scripting language
  • Used to create dynamic web pages (like blogs!)

When I first opened the PHP documents to the template Wordpress files, I was incredibly confused:

Overall, I ended up editing a pre-made free Wordpress theme (found here), by modifying the CSS and barely dabbling in the PHP documents. Because this is a client-side course, I did not need to worry too much about learning the PHP.
